Retired gentleman of leisure - who loves the future, the outdoors and craft beer.
I'm 77, and have just shifted my cards onto my phone. Now I don't even need to carry a wallet. While I'm sure some of us oldies don't like change, others welcome the ease of the new technology.

I wish I could believe in the University's opinion. If there is one thing I have learned over the last few years is that Winston will accept anything it takes to get into power. It is the only thing he has ever been consistent about.

I'm confused. Labour were going to build the i-rex ferries for $1.8b, including wharf development. National gets elected and suddenly they are going to cost $3b, no sorry $4b - so cancels them. Winston builds smaller ferries and wharfs for $1.8b and saves the world. Have I got that right?

Sort of like the praise he showered on Coster just after the election.

Certainly not top of the list of things I am excited about when I get out of bed each morning. $1.4b for a system which works for a fraction of travelers, and not for me at all in Christchurch.

I love the juxtaposition on Bluesky sometimes. The post under this one is a report on the latest earthquake in New Zealand.

And if they ever become successful, we sell them to an overseas investor so they can export our cash into their bank, without having to pay our tax.

But hey - at least the French owners of the dairy products will get a decent return on their investment, while avoiding the climate rules in place at home.

Sadly, we are fighting the same oligarchs as you. They've captured our government, and many of them have been given NZ citizenship, so that can escape to their bolt-holes here.

Wow! A Coalition of Cruelty policy which has actually worked! People may be disappointed with the number of cones saved, but compared the results of many of their policies, this is an outstanding success.

I had hoped National might have announced something sensible - but they just tinkered round the edges. If you have a national, coordinated power system like we used to, you can use hydro to store water to cover periods when there is no sun or wind.

And he has the cheek to go on Radio New Zealand and claim that we should be proud of his decision!

Had me going for a minute. I thought you had found Winston from the description.

Have we had enough growth yet?
September 28, 2025 at 3:26 AM
Yep. We've got them here in Waimakariri. Antivax, anti 3 waters and anti Maori- now standing as a team of zero rate increase fiscal responsibility.
September 28, 2025 at 3:26 AM
Absolutely.
September 28, 2025 at 2:21 AM
No. It's them that we're raptured. They've all gone to heaven because Bishop Brian was right. I hear God's chosen President Trump is joining them soon when the rapture reaches America.

Only the genuine Christians have gone. So most of us are still here.
September 23, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Perhaps it is just as well that Winston has left the room.
September 23, 2025 at 2:13 AM
Not sure. But I know they sacrifice a lamb every Sunday and didn't say mean things about Charlie Kirk. Perhaps that's my problem.
September 23, 2025 at 2:11 AM
Don't worry - they'll change their mind again soon. Anything to stop actually doing something. Rates were increased in Dunedin some years ago to fund a $20m redevelopment of access in this area. They've taken the money but done nothing and will still be talking about it next year.
September 23, 2025 at 2:09 AM
Are you sure? There's no one at home in my neighbour's house. I'm scared that they got picked and I didn't.

Jason Tickel's book "Less is more " explains it perfectly. Western capitalism needs to consume resources to survive. And those resources usually come from the indigenous peoples. It's a short book, but explains the situation we are in. We'll worth a read.

Jason Hickel's book - "Less is more" is a wonderful report on the damage that a GDP focus is causing.
