MLA Batten asking incredibly important questions - 79 children dead under the UCP's watch - there's 52 weeks in a year.

The UCP's response? "Every year I see this report and it makes me sad, but we're looking into it."

This is the same response this Ministry gave last year, and the year before […]

[difficult language]

One particular youth that stood out of all the stories he told me, was one that was/is living on the streets in Edmonton. She was bouncing from one shelter to another, and was raped at all of them. She can't control her bowel movements anymore.

She was 14. This was two […]

3 hours and 7 minutes from launch to docking.

I imagine that the three folks on board are very much looking forward to getting out of that vomit comet.

Incredible how primitive the #roscosmos mission control is.

Docking confirmed.

@jorijn one day when I can find some time - but will do!
November 26, 2025 at 1:13 PM
@jorijn Yeah I just haven't found time to set up pushing the data via FTP/SFTP/rsync/whatever.

We're at about 8 hours, but the sun is pretty low in the sky, maybe 45 degrees.

At winter solstice, we'll have about 7.5 hours of daylight, but it's so low in the sky that it's hard to say how much […]

@jorijn nice! I don't publish my weewx, but I do push to WeatherUnderground: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IEDMON12

Interesting looking at how many more daylight hours you have! I'm jealous.

@jorijn yegwx is the hashtag for weather in Edmonton.

But yes, I do run weewx behind my AcuRite weather station on a RPi Zero.

@jfmezei It's He. He2 is really only used in liver cancer treatment.

There's COPVs in all three chines, but it's clear there was a defect in the one that exploded.
November 25, 2025 at 12:04 PM
@jfmezei CH4 and O2 are chilled to liquid, but the He is gaseous. I don't know if they chill the He though.

My guess is no, because that would impose material issues with the composites that make up the COPVs that are likely out of spec.

I'm sure that there is thermal transfer from the […]

@jfmezei Yeah the issue wasn't under the skirt, it was definitely an external force (a COPV) that tore open the O2 tank.

I'm sure the vendor for these COPVs is under some pretty heavy scrutiny at this point.

What's interesting is that SpX has tried to mitigate the […]
