We looked for orthogroups unique to S. epigloea, and found an AA14 lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) undetected in the other Sporothrix genomes. Digging in, this AA14 could not be found in Ophiostomatales and was most similar to those of the Hypocreales. 4/5

Sporothrix epigloea is a 🍄 that lives on another 🍄, Tremella fuciformis (white jelly fungus, 銀耳). We sequenced strains of S. epigloea and compared them to other Sporothrix genomes, including pathogens. Turns out S. epigloea has the smallest Sporothrix genome to date. 2/5
