Thanks for the input! I almost exclusively work outside of ELAN unless I have to double check video/annotations/settings. Otherwise it's all in R.

I've written my own packages to work with ELAN data, but I'm curious how other people approach it, especially getting ELAN data into R/Python/etc.

Do you ever use any package to directly read the data from the EAFs into the programming environment, or only exporting data with ELAN itself?

Makes sense! I wrote my own R package just to make it easier to read EAFs and CMDIs, but I doubt anyone outside our research group uses it since it's not on CRAN. I've been considering submitting a version to CRAN but not sure if anybody would use it and if it's then even worth all the CRAN hassle 🤷‍♂️
