i second Nora Hikari's work, she's AMAZING. Evelyn Berry's "Grief Slut" came out last year and her next book, "T4T," is out in 2026.

also, Zefyr Lisowski's "Girl Work" was published in 2024 and i reviewed it (linked)!

this isn't a cure-all ofc but do you have any 'brave space' language in your syllabus/class contract? i outline basic guidelines for me and for the students that talk about asking questions & being wrong & speaking in good faith, this seems to help people feel comfortable speaking up? but YMMV!

And fielding a lot of “no way, that doesn’t happen” / “yeah that’s what we’re taught to do, how could it be bad”. I realize “walk in their shoes” type assignments are gauche now but at least in these situations empathy exercises were helpful

I taught disability studies to a bunch of stemmies/premeds with like maybe 1 actual disabled person per class. I frontloaded video/audio narratives so that those perspectives were physically present in the classroom. And spent a Lot of time redirecting and combating garbage takes ofc

I just want to say I really appreciate you being so forthright about this. It never occurred to me that I could ask people to nominate my work for things. Idk, it’s really heartening to see someone actively knowing & advocating for their worth. 💜
