82. Bugonia. So much better than Poor Things. Really enjoyed this. Plemons can do no wrong.

81. LaRoy, Texas. Relatively diverting Coen-esque thriller, greatly improved by the presence of Steve Zahn & Dylan Baker.

I shared a lift with Tom Stoppard at the Jaipur Literature Festival a few years back and was too in awe to speak to him. What a talent he was... RIP.

The Gordon Burn Prize longlist is out and as always it features some really interesting books. Big congrats to @wednesdayerskin.bsky.social whose wonderful novel The Benefactors has made the list.

79. After The Hunt. Temu Oleanna. If you enjoy straining over bizarre music choices to hear insufferable dialogue spoken by insufferable characters, then you might like this better than me.

78. A House of Dynamite. 90 minutes of characters being stressed with no pay off. Disappointing.

77. Train Dreams. Everything about this is perfect.

76. Sharp Corner. This is a really smart thriller and Ben Foster is incredible in it.

75. Drive My Car. I usually have no time for a movie that is nearly three hours long but I loved every minute of this.

74. The Innocents. Genuinely one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. Terrifying and brilliant with four amazing child actors.

73. All the Devil's Are Here. How you feel about this movie will entirely depend upon your reaction to the ending. I really liked it.

72. The Silence of the Lambs. Continuing Stella's education in classic horror. Had forgotten how insanely good this film is.

67. Hallow Road. A fab two-hander - mostly set in a car - which is way more tense and way more effective than it should be.

66. The Surfer. Look, I will genuinely watch Nicholas Cage in anything but this is a terrible, terrible movie.

65..Weapons. I absolutely loved this.

64. The Amateur. In which I realise that Rami Malik can't really act at all.
