i can see somewhere like stars hollow leaning into the kitsch and having a british-themed pub but thinking through all of the movies and shows set in small-ish towns, they usually have like one shitty bar on the side of a highway somewhere lmao

not american obv but based on my exp living in two smaller US towns, pubs aren’t a huge thing unless they’re specifically themed (like irish or british or whatever). their equiv would be dive bars (for shitty pubs) and sports bars (slightly nicer)
