This is so racist it needs a new category of racism to describe it but it's also stupid and pointless. You simply cannot purge the celebration of Black people and their accomplishments from this country in favor of celebrations of a dying pedophile. It's literally not a thing he's capable of doing.
Donald Trump just removed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the list of free entry days at national parks.

They are being replaced with Trump’s birthday.

"If anything, the gay wool fashion show should make us think not about the good fortune of the few rescued rams but about how animal farming systematically, routinely, and often violently exploits the reproduction of all the animals it encounters."
Two weeks ago, Grindr put on a fashion show of wool from "gay" rams rescued from slaughter. The media and the Internet swooned. But this feel-good story is a window into the dark role of forced reproduction in animal agriculture.

By me & @gnrosenberg.bsky.social.

Just in time for your Thanksgiving feast, @jandutkiewicz.bsky.social and I killjoy the gay ram story over at @newrepublic.com. Sorry, but *all* animal farming is predicated on exploiting the sex of farm animals. Oh, and those rams (probably) ain't gay. Enjoy!

Our piece is here. Our core argument is that a) it's very hard to determine the "sexual preference" of animals and b) the issue here is less violence against "gay animals," but rather that this case shows the schism between profitable and unprofitable animals.

This is a good bit of journalism on the Rainbow Wool/Grindr show that avoids both dismissal and swooning. Glad to see myself and @gnrosenberg.bsky.social cited here, but I'd offer one correction: we don't think the show "whitewashes" animal ag (it's actually fun), but that it undersells its harms.

"Once a farmer starts taking an animal’s consent into account, is it possible to still be a farmer?" There's the question. What female sheep can refuse being made forcibly pregnant? Why not end that sexual exploitation? But no, here's The Guardian's take www.theguardian.com/fashion/2025.... 1/2

“ended up”? “setting off”? The Times explores new lows with this perversely upside down synopsis of a story of powerful men sexually abusing a child and getting away with their crimes.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

Michael Wolff suggests in an email (in 2015) that if Trump were to say in public that he had never been to Epstein’s house or on his plane, Epstein would have leverage over him.

Which…means that Trump was at his house and on his plane and that Epstein had the receipts to prove it. So.
