On Halloween I went to the final night for one of my favorite bars. Today I saw a woman at my current local bar wearing a hoodie for that bar and I said "that's a cool hoodie, loved that place" and she said "thanks, that's us. We owned that place".

Before even going into the closest Target to me you first need to walk past the private security vehicles with "in God we trust" over a thin blue line. The armed goons wearing tactical gear are posted at the door. Somehow, it is still too unsecure for self check out
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Outside of my bathroom there has been a gap since I moved in, but I saw this YouTube trick to use double sided tape and a piece of wood (I used a floor tool too because it was right next to the wall) and it worked

The serial harassment of educators is a major part of the TPUSA brand both before and after Kirk’s death. Their videographers targeted and then physically assaulted a professor years ago at Arizona State University based off the lies their website and Kirk spewed (which all still remains up btw).

And he was enthusiastic about it too. These it was a good campaign because these are good things to be and we should not be afraid of saying that
I am no longer employed so I'm not blogging Zohran tonight but I can just repeat exactly what I said in June :-)

he won on the back of a pro-migrant, pro-trans, pro-working class campaign. and also: Dem pundits are full of shit

Great thread
Let me write a short thread as it is of interest to many. I'll start off by saying that the landscape has changed from when I got into hockey analytics and when I got hired by the Calgary Flames.
Hey @hockeyanalysis.com, just saw a couple of your posts on X, and I was just wondering if you happened to have any advice for someone aspiring to work in the hockey analytics space or something along those lines

Finally, enjoy what you do. Don't get into sports analytics because you think it will be cool, get into it because its your passion and you love it. Working for an NHL team will be demanding at times. If you don't love it, it can wear you down. It isn't likely going to be strictly a 9-5 job.

Your objective here is to:
1. Prove your interest in hockey analytics and are willing to put time and energy into it.
2. Prove that you have the technical skills to seek out, obtain, organize and analyze hockey data.
3. Show that you can ask interesting questions and do the research to answer them.

I ended up spending way too much time at the bar down the street today and so my chores aren't getting done. That being said, I had a few really great conversations, including with a fellow former Coyotes fan. We both agreed that it's tough to get seriously invested in another NHL team

HBO Max : hey I see you're about Weapons, but did you know there's a new episode of Welcome to Derry
Me: maybe something shorter will fit my mood better
HBO Max: look, I know you're about to watch Welcome to Derry, but we have Weapons . . .

One last time

In 2011 I started working in downtown Phoenix, not far away from a section of Roosevelt Ave called Roosevelt Row. It had free parking, my favorite bar of all time Lost Leaf, a bookstore where my friend did slam poetry in the backyard, an ice cream bar that sold their stuff in Chinese takeout boxes,

She doesn't represent me, but she represents my neighbors in this beautiful desert we call Arizona. And it is unfair that they do not have representation in Congress
Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva has now been waiting 36 days to be sworn in to office — setting a new record that any member of Congress has had to wait following a special election.

Kyrsten Sinema's brief post-Senate career highlights: launching a business lobbying group, forming an advocacy org for AI firms, and bullying an Arizona city to approve her client's AI data center.

How Kyrsten Sinema Bullied an Arizona City to Approve Her Client’s AI Data Center
Just months after leaving the Senate, Democrats’ former corporate villain is raking in money while lobbying for the AI industry and proudly working "hand in glove with the Trump administration."

So my bartender invited me into a conversation about someone running out on a tab and basically it was either "eat the tab or get written up" and the person wanted to split the way with the other server, who thought it was unfair. My first thought was "it's fucked up you have to eat this"

With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness.

Housing, food, healthcare—it's all connected. Cut one thread and the whole thing unravels.
