The Canadians liberated my country (The Netherlands) in WW2 and are still seen as heroes for that. 🇨🇦

One doesn't exclude the other. There's no exclusion in independence. But I agree, the Canadians are dope.

IMHO you can replace 'Americans' here with *any* foreign nation. Europe needs to be truly independent, not just in defence but in every crucial sector (energy, food, tech, and no doubt others). We cannot achieve this if we assume the 'sensible' America is coming back, or swapping it for China.

So when is the USA starting their anti-corruption campaign?

Trump and co like the governmental style of Russia so they want to emulate that to the US. It’s like Mafia United and it doesn’t help if one clan of the mafia attacks the other.

It’s like the boy who cried wolf. Except in Russia’s case, the boy by now has lost it’s voice and some dummies still believe the boy.

Redelijk beroemd/berucht gebouw volgens mij. En toevallig HK in het nieuws met die brand…

Trump doesn't know shit. He's just happy if he gets attention.

This is so much material for endless YouTube videos. I hope someone maps this, I genuinely wonder how many far-right not coming from a foreign state there actually is.

In general, it should be that a continent like Europe should be able to handle key issues/industries/institutions that protect our autonomy, without any outside help.

I think it’s like what Peter Sloterdijk argued (idk what the book is called in English, crystal palace?): we need bigger stories to tie us together. Big leaders got us nowhere. The catch-22 is that we maybe need a big leader to make Europeans believe, to create the story.

Do I ever NOT miss it?

I now understand why Americans kids value going to Yale less and less if this is the result.

If we as Europeans accept this, I never want to hear Macron about ‘strategic independence’ ever again.
