I run mountain trails and think about politics. Dogs and cats. Interior design and David Lynch films. Figure skating. I work in emergency medicine. Colorado is my home.
Same, but I have the memory of something else to compare this to. I wonder if students today just assume what they're getting is all there is?

I ask myself, 'Cui bono (and impress myself with this Latin) from truly educated students?'
It's not any kind of organized interest group that I can think of.

On the other hand, when you ask who benefits from an uneducated rabble, a list springs to mind immediately.

I’m just very disappointed when experts like law professors (or public health experts, as another recent example) act more like stooges than guides.

It’d be different if he stuck around and actually responded to some of the criticism but as far as I can tell he dropped his take and noped out. People have schedules and IRL obligations but the conversation is far from finished.

You need to take responsibility as a citizen and that means maybe think a bit longer before you credulously weigh in.

I understand the value of the first amendment but like every other legal regime it loses its value if it can’t be implemented in a rational and practical way. Some of its defenders do it no favors by claiming that this essay implicates first amendment protections.

It was a bad faith effort to oust a trans instructor. It worked because people are cowards and the religious right always gets an unwarranted benefit of the doubt.
