Episodic narrative games are back, baby! Following in the footsteps of Telltale Games classics like The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and Tales from the Borderlands, Dispatch looks like a good next step for the genre. Amazing cast, incredible art style, and awesome story. (21/x)

A fun and chaotic co-op multiplayer game where you have to drive an RV through increasingly insane situations while fighting against wildly janky physics. Played this with some friends online over the course of four-ish play sessions, and somehow, we reached the end. (20/x)

The difficulty spike in Act 3 soured the experience for me a little toward the end (mostly optional endgame content), but this game truly deserves all the praise being laid upon it. Gorgeous art style, amazing soundtrack. This is a must-play for JRPG fans. (19/x)

Don't overlook any anomalies.
If you find anomalies, turn back immediately.
If you don't find anomalies, do not turn back.
To go out from Exit 8.
How such a simple concept for a game can be so utterly unnerving is beyond me. Absolutely worth a try at its price point. (18/x)

If you're like me and fit in the middle of the niche venn diagram of people who like Shakespeare, magical girl animes, and 16-bit JRPGs, you are in for a great time. The writing is both incredibly funny and charming, and the combat system is surprisingly robust. (17/x)

Rising Tide was a much meatier DLC than Echoes, and it was a great capstone to FF16 as a whole. The Leviathan skill tree was unique and fun to use, and the final boss fight against Leviathan himself was as flashy and cinematic as I hoped it would be. (16/x)

Detoured from the latest Final Fantasy game back to the first! I did own this on Wii Virtual Console but never finished it, and decided to pick up the Pixel Remaster on sale. The final showdown with Chaos was no joke, and I can only imagine what it was like back then. (15/x)

The smaller of the DLCs for FF16, but the new dungeon, enemies, and bosses were all very fun. Omega was an incredible fight and it was fun to experience this superboss it for the first time, having never played other games that featured it. (14/x)

Prior to this, I had only played FF7, Tactics Advance, and several Kingdom Hearts games, so I'm excited to start experiencing other Final Fantasy games. While FF16's combat wasn't turn-based, it scratched that DMC/Bayonetta itch just right. Solid visuals and story! (13/x)

An absolute masterpiece. My wife and I played through this together armed with a new journal and an insatiable appetite for mystery solving. Rolling credits for this one felt amazing, but it's just the beginning; there are still layers upon layers of mysteries to unravel. (12/x)

Picross is one of those puzzle games that feels timeless, and to my surprise, this one is the first one in the series. Added to NSO back in March of this year, I gave it a shot on a whim and it holds up incredibly well. It was great for short sessions on break at work. (11/x)

I really liked the combat and art style, but the story fell a little flat in the final act. Things felt rushed, and I sought additional context to understand it better. It felt like it became a very different game from the announcement trailer we were shown in 2023. (10/x)

I grew up watching the Mario Bros Z flash animations on Newgrounds, but never actually played the Mario & Luigi RPGs until now. Incredibly gorgeous sprite animation, cool character designs, and very fun combat/boss fights (save for the Bowletta gauntlet). (9/x)

The game really feels like you're in an Indiana Jones movie. Its locations and were fantastic and colorful, from Vatican City to Egypt to the Himalayas, and Troy Baker did an incredible job portraying Indy. The best part of course: punching Nazis. (8/x)

Technically I played this last year (and forgot to post it), but I did go back to it this year and rounded up the rest of the achievements for 100%. This game is incredibly charming and was definitely a great way to break up play sessions between heavier games. (7/x)

Speaking of NSO, I tried this one per recommendation from @wavelightning777.bsky.social and I was very impressed! This was a solid puzzle game that took simple mechanics and did as much as they could with them. The later levels in particular were incredibly challenging. (6/x)

I never owned this one, but I have fond memories of playing this at my cousin's house when we were kids. I wasn't good at it then, and I'm still not good at it now, but it was a lot of fun to be able to experience this older title on modern hardware through NSO. (5/x)

I continue to make progress through the 2D Zelda games I missed! Minish Cap was very unique and Capcom did a good job with this entry. My only gripe is the side content and collectibles are a slog. A tip for those who want to 100% this game: Don't. (4/x)
