As far as Andor season 2, well, season 1 took like 18 months to get to a physical release.

Mostly for accessibility, but besides people with visual or other disabilities who are helped by alt text, the use of alt text makes an image searchable and mutable.
Bluesky has had a strong alt text culture since its beginning. Also Mamdani's account DID do alt text until recently.
