Not at the NHL level they don't. And they've shown already they're OK with youth development starting in Rockford. That and losing so many vets this summer, this move could make sense. This wouldn't block anyone.

They actually have to do a lot of work to even get to the Cap floor next year. Taking these type players is still better than the UFA class imo

Unless KD is trying to trade for someone who's 23, nearly everyone will be trending down by the time they're contenders.

Not to mention, UFA is going to be so thin, getting a guy like him in a trade is probably the best youre going to do.

Not sure if agree with the Garland take. Foligno, Dickson, Murphy and maybe Mikeyev are gone this summer. They can afford to take him at his age and contract. Hes a leader type and could fill that veteran gap when those 4 go.

With Foligno, Dickinson and possibly Mikeyev leaving this summer, they could definitely afford to take on a guy like him and his contract. Id even take a look at Sherwood too.

You have to do everything you can to have Bedard play center. If he can't, that suddenly means you've been rebuilding all this time and have no 1st line center.. that would be a massive problem.
