Hot take perhaps, but the environmental impact of AI is far worse and more worrying than the plagiarism or copyright issues... and the conversation largely being focused on the latter is honestly frustrating.

my gripe with the idea that media that includes dinosaurs/prehistoric animals doesn’t have to be scientifically accurate is that rarely has that excuse been used to do anything fun

I still think a lot about the fact that Gamergate did essentially win. Not that it made the culture significantly more misogynistic or anything, but it succeeded in making a lot of the people who played games eventually casually much more anti-intellectual and incurious.

I generally agree with this being bad but I cannot bring myself to hate the lionfish from shark tale or the goose from balto because they’re so over the top that I find it hysterical. like it’s drag levels of exaggerated femininity. they gave a fish a full beat.
