The Dutch betting website Unibet gets a fine of 4 million euros from the betting and gambling authority for failing (between 2022 and 2024) to take any meaningful action to prevent over-spending and over-engagement, eg by checking income. Rules have become stricter since.
Bijna een perfecte score.

My phone is doing all the same things from 2015 with only minimal benefits. The only reason we have to upgrade is increased software bloat.

We should actually just have phones that last 15 years now.

NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

New piece:

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

These intense attacks on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities are a very bad development obviously, but what makes Germany think they have the standing to talk of "contempt for humanity" after two years of Staatsräson in the face of genocide? #doublestandards anyone?

Prohibited activities include advising Chinese graduate students. For reference, a recent Georgetown report estimated 16% of STEM graduate students in the US are Chinese nationals.

This would take out entire fields at the knees, which is perhaps the point.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”
