Hi! Zeus Constant can be read alone but I generally recommend reading Hades Calculus first for how the themes reveals are layered.

intent to subvert, invert, or criticize those genre conventions or the hero's role and so on then this just presents a fairly milequetoast "gay people are just like you" effect. it's a lot more interesting to me at least to go further and challenge the system that produces such a hero, such a genre

At a time when queer people are being monstered and the west is backsliding into fascism, to homo+transphobia. I'm blessed to be part books that reclaim this grotesquerie of queerness to make critiques of these reactionary narrative trends and the systems that uphold them.
