It's Reclaim the Night Brighton tomorrow. First time in years I haven't organised it, which feels strange/liberating - it's lovely to see a new gen of activists take it on, and odd to let it go.

I might be too sick to attend, but I hope any Brighton followers will be at the station at 6pm tomorrow!

Beautiful vigil for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women & Girls in Brighton today, marking the start of #16Days.

An important call to ensure we include trans women and girls in our work on VAWG, and all gender expansive folk in our activism against gender based violence.

Because sexual violence is not okay. Because it's not a joke. Because we believe survivors. Because we are survivors. Because existing in patriarchy is survival. Because rich men get away with it. Because footballers get away with it. Because politicians get away with it, and then run for president. Because actors, teachers, friends, family, partners get away with it. Because rapists get away with it. Because silence in the face of this horror is violence. Because if we don't shout about it we'd drown in it. Because it's everywhere, in plain sight. Because it feels invisible. Because wanting sex once does not mean consenting always. Because our sexual history does not justify rape. Because what we wore does not justify rape. Because where and when we walk does not justify rape. Because what we do or who we love does not justify rape. Because the only person responsible for rape is a rapist. Because we've had enough of getting the blame. Because we've had enough of the shame. Because we've. had. enough.
