Not too. We knew there was a leak in that garage when we bought the house. Its roof needs replacing and we're planning to raise it so there's room for a car hoist, but it will be $10K+ and that's out of budget right now.

We were so vigilant and read numerous LIM reports when house hunting. I can tell you where almost every flood plane is in central Lower Hutt! We're technically in the clear zone, but our back yard pools during heavy downpours. We know the garage leaks. It needs $$$ to fix it but, alas, no income.

Thankfully we didn't lose power but part of the garage and covered outdoor area flooded. It was pretty severe.

It's not always transparent. But often convenience (feeling good and being able to donate small amounts) will trump mindfully donating where it's needed most.
