I kept thinking of animals and discarding them as “boring” because I see them all the time (opossum, coyotes, peacocks, ravens, the naturalised little parrots) and then remember a girl from Hawai‘i I knew who was excited to see squirrels because “all we have are dolphins.”

This is not a flex about consumerism, this is just the only time I've seen at all what this in person. And, even then, it was only chaos coiled and waiting, energy that barely registered because mostly I was thinking about plumbing issues.
