And sculptures...

I only had one hr this morning at The Art Institute... I am respectful of the "no spending on Black Friday" week, but today was the only day I could go, and I had my ticket some time ago... anyway...

Taking more pictures of this surfer. An unusual sunrise.
November 28, 2025 at 1:10 PM
There is a long wall of clouds blocking the sunrise, but this is exactly as I took it... the outline of sunlight around the clouds with surfer in waters

It is 10 degrees F out and these kids are surfing in Lake Michigan.

While waiting, thinking abt the one time I went to the lake and the ducks were pointed in many directions in the water. The moment the sun rose they all pointed to the sun. I'd like to think they were watching the sunrise too. ❤️

Also, a recent read, The Book of Lost Saints by Daniel José Older... I read the book while also listening to the audiobook narrated by Sofia Quintero.

(I esp appreciated the 2nd half of the book which I could not put down until the end.)

I visit The Old Guitarist in the Modern Wing every time I go to the Art Institute. This picture is from 2022. I think the last time I was there was earlier this yr, though.

Post a non-religious photo you think of as holy

(My favorite painting at the Art Institute of Chicago)

Final product... I forgot the ginger, which I like to put a little of, but otherwise... taste decent.

Going to dinner at a dear friends home tomorrow. Her daughter loves chap chae, so although I haven't made it in a few yrs, making it now... the veggie portion.

Because I have time, hoping to reread Split and Becoming Ghost by @cathylinhche.bsky.social this week/weekend. ❤️

Also, ever since I noticed it, I can't help but stare at the outline of the woman's face above his neck... you can see her eyes... a painting that was behind the original painting.

I have done this except I stare at The Old Guitarist by Picasso.

I was at a mindfulness retreat yrs ago among the redwoods in CA. I was closed off at first, but after the 1st session, I stepped out and could smell the trees. Later that night I realized I hadn't looked up all day. This is what I saw.

(A reminder to breathe if you are having a difficult holiday.)

For my dear friend's daughter. Always.

I used to have a tradition of making containers of chap chae for friends and neighbors during the holidays. I think I want to start that tradition again. (I have a non-Korean friend who loves chap chae...).

I have the sweet potato noodles...just need all the other ingredients, lol...

The painting behind the tv is one that I enjoyed painting. Abt 24" x 30"...

Don't judge... I've had the tree up for some time.

EOY holidays are hard for me, but in recent yrs, I have learned to love and anticipate this time of yr.

I am separated from family (my choice), spent some past holidays intentionally alone, but friends, neighbors, etc., make sure I'm ok. Grateful.
