Got blocked by 3 people yesterday for my thoughts on the paid voice actors AI dilemma. Noticed one talking highly of Clair Obscur Expedition 33 which had GenAI in it for 2 months after its release before they patched it out due to the game’s popularity.

Watched Shelby Oaks which I was so excited for cuz Mike Flanagan’s name was attached to it but it was severely disappointing.

I thought the issue with AI was that it steals art, work and takes jobs from people but this does none of that. The developers wrote their own lines and paid the voice actors.
I’m gonna say this and get hate but who cares really. The AI use in Arc Raiders isn’t bad. They hired real voice actors, paid them and then got their permission to use their voices in text to speech so they didn’t waste a ton of time on re-recording when lines were changed.

Arc Raiders definitely isn’t Game of the year material but it definitely is the most addicting game to come out this year. To hate on Clair Obscur or Arc Raiders becuz of Shroud is just silly behavior.
