You're conflating raising a kid to be their best self with generic sexism. It doesn't fly, those are two separate things. If you were taught you were meant to have some kind of ownership of another human being, that's not some society wide stagnation, that's just some asshole being sexist.

If someone told me "I'm raising my kid to be mediocre, never stand out and only think of themselves" i'd ask them why they hate their kid.

Well for starters that's not grooming, that's just raising a kid. Nobody does it perfectly, we're all raised differently, parents just have to go by what they think is best. We raise people to be leaders because that's the best way to teach taking care of yourself and those around you. It's nature.
