Why do you care
December 2, 2025 at 2:37 AM
They are the only people to whom this should really matter anyway

Ask the people living on the falkland Islands which they think is right

there had to be a way of saying this without just ruling it out in this congress even if you expect it to fail, this is what i'm talking about, it makes everyone unhaply! bsky.app/profile/notd...
No one would ever mistake me for a Jeffries defender but this headline really did him dirty. What he DID say is that even though the Republicans will shut down impeachment he expects future criminal prosecutions

I think this is something that can only be resolved on a case-by-case basis, which sucks in a lot of ways.

As an american the go-to example for me here is the black hills, I dont think the Lakota have exclusive rights to legal ownership but the religious and cultural significance of the area should be considered and respected
December 2, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Obviously mistreatment of human being in the here and now are wrong and there are ways of respecting indigenous rights that arent direct legal ownership that should be done.

Concepts of indigeneity are also going to be changing a lot as we move further into the "post colonial" era
December 2, 2025 at 1:24 AM
A lot of it is really a practical matter: humanity is becoming increasingly shuffled around and mixed together and thats only going to accelerate with easy transportation and climate-related displacement. Either we accept that or there will be a lot of different blood in the soil

You don't even need party lists. With single transferable vote, you can just have voters rank all candidates. Any candidate over quota gets a seat. Gerrymandering is oversolved lol.

I think this is mostly a matter of scale, personal works and commercial works should be treated differently
December 2, 2025 at 1:08 AM
There certainly are worse ways to settle the issue

Such as, perhaps, landing an armed invasion force.
December 2, 2025 at 1:04 AM
1: this is a very funny joke

2: I dont claim the falklands
December 2, 2025 at 12:56 AM
What do these tiny islands mean for the argentinean people. This is a genuine question i do not see why these matter at all. I understand the principle of opposing an armed invasion like in 1982 but frankly I do not get why anyone cares other than the small number who actually live there
December 2, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Considering the turmoil of climate change, the choices are without exaggeration freedom of movement or the largest genocide in human history.
December 2, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Which indigenous people are claiming the island? Surely you are not referring to the argentine state.
December 2, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Okay so if the Argentinian state is a product of European colonialism, why would that state have a claim to the falklands from indigenous fishermen?
