and I broke the 7950X probinator a second time. I really need to find the *perfect* gauge wires for this. Not so thick that they don't fit in the socket. and not so thin that they break when you look at them wrong.

Well I end up "improving" my way back to basically re-creating the Minelayer mechanic from Mothergunship(great game):

why are movement physics so fiddly. I had an idea to smooth out some issue with my new "slide" physics. And it delivers lots of smoothness at the cost of being a generalized acceleration nerf. So it feels like the player is about 50% heavier and also less affected by gravity :(

I just crashed bindows 11 by trying to open snipping tool.
Like at this point I'm starting to think that maybe ASUS/AMD/Nvidia botched something with drivers for this laptop because there's no way an OS can be this bad.

well I figured out to make a smooth slide function for my game. It just ignores weapon recoil and WASD inputs.
The shotgun's boost ability is reverse recoil....

it's amazing how much better at being a laptop my laptop is when I disable the Novideo RTX 5050 that's in it. No more BSODs, no more random 100% fan speed, way more battery life.

The progressive game mode now actually kinda works. So you don't have to get started with the 100% enemy spawn rate modes.

So I've been working on a new enemy NPC and I end up re-inventing the "projectile" attack. Which I've been going out of my way to avoid because projectile attacks encourage the player to stay at a distance. More distance = more time to dodge.

oh boy I just came up with the jankiest work around to replace the icon of my game's .exe.

Because I'm using a rather old version of godot 4 that doesn't handle icon replacement for me.

I really don't like how "BIG" enemies "integrate" into my games combat loop. As in they don't integrate. They completely dominate the arena. Which means that instead of constantly having to acquire new targets the player just has to worry about the one BIG enemy.
