It is buying server space, licensing software for managing digital assets, processing image files, and having highly-trained staff to write custom metadata to professional standards.

It costs money to give stuff away for free.

Yesterday I gave thanks for the new immigrants repopulating distressed neighborhoods. They are the best change in #Buffalo since I moved here in 1992. The only thing that welcoming immigrants and refugees causes is grateful new Americans.

Buffalo had a German-language newspaper for 130 years, right up to around 1965, when Buffalo Volksfreund switched to publishing in English. No one accuses Germans of not assimilating.

It takes a generation for each new group to assimilate.
