Like why do I have a degree in translation if anyone could sign up? Why do you sign up even though you don't know what you have to do? I am confused

I'm in a group where people share ideas and advice and someone asked for advice on actual translation strategies. Like, that's the basis of translating, you don't translate literally but you adapt it to the target culture most of the time.

so, I have a degree in translation and interpreting and I decided to sign up for a public competition to work as a translator for the EU. Thing is that ANYONE could sign up, even people without a degree in a related field.
