what kills me abt the toilet paper line is we literally JUST wrote abt how nobody inside gets enough TP in general — esp. women -- who need more when menstruating & use it to supplement inadequate supplies -- who are deprived of such a basic element of dignity and then punished for making do w/o it!

the other form this takes is the very very rare sympathetic staff member -- sometimes a CO, office worker, or medical worker -- who might occasionally do little things to insulate incarcerated ppl from the worst treatment. but this is by far the exception that proves the rule more than anything

in cases GM's, where it's more likely about appeasing someone with power/influence outside, we're talking corruption, not the experience of ppl inside as a whole. the insinuations in these articles only put downward pressure on conditions that are already ghastly and austere

often this takes the form of a power play that involves turning incarcerated ppl against each other to help "manage" the prison. but in no situation are prison staff acting like concierges for incarcerated people.

And people who go 'I'm for safe borders and orderly deportations, not violence and racism!' are kidding themselves, that's kind of like going 'I support the war but not the use of military force'

people have lived and died trying to create law enforcement that will protect them from violence instead of create violence, so i don't want to denigrate the hard work of many people. there is simply no data to suggest that electing Democrat sheriffs substantially changes policing.

one of my pet peeves is people who post about "the MSM stinks" etc but then don't want to be bothered to think about the fact that journalists also need to eat, have health insurance, and even wear shoes.
