Is this the best named transit pass in North America? Other contenders include Seattle’s ORCA card. Others? Looking for ones with names that instantly connect you to the city where they’re used.

Stopped into the Andover Bookstore, the oldest independent bookstore in the country, and they had a copy of LIFE AFTER CARS. The owner asked me to sign it, which was so sweet. Apparently they’ve sold a lot of copies, and not just to my mom.

Like a lot of cities it still has a long way to go but Boston is building some very nice bike infrastructure.

Devastating.

Thanks @visionzerovancouver.ca for these great pics of our live LIFE AFTER CARS show at the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema with Councilmember @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @tomflood.bsky.social. This one looks like I'm singing "Memory" from Cats.

And, yes, the "war on cars" guy especially loves the design of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, which looked even cooler at night in the rain.

Experienced a rare rainy night at Disneyland in California this past week which had the effect of nearly emptying out the park. Wound up getting some great pics with few if any people in them.

This kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in most American cities.
November 21, 2025 at 4:07 PM
Sold at least two books after striking up conversations with some folks while waiting on line at Disneyland, where I’m celebrating the end of the first big leg of our book tour. Disney Parks fans love walkability and car-free spaces!

Okay, this one is really cool.

Got around to this one late but I’m glad I did. It’s outstanding. @lioneltrolling.bsky.social

The best way to explore Portland. @biketownpdx.bsky.social

Amazing. These are two of my favorite books so seeing Life After Cars as the top seller in urban planning is a thrill.

When in Vancouver, BC on book tour…
November 10, 2025 at 5:14 AM
Seeing the sights in Vancouver. Had to stop to see the famous urban Costco.

Do you think they’ll let me drive the Seattle Monorail?
November 6, 2025 at 8:13 PM
Marathon Sunday is truly the best day of the year in the city. Just wonderful in every possible way.

Elite men.

Elite women just past mile 7.

New short two-way protected bike lane connector on Union Street in Gowanus. Thanks @nyc-dot.bsky.social! Another project supported by @bkcb6.bsky.social. Glad to see the network taking shape in this part of the neighborhood.

Strong "We're all trying to find the guy who did this" energy from Andrew Cuomo and his big PAC supporters.
November 1, 2025 at 9:04 PM
This Cuomo ad about how scary the subways are almost certainly used footage from the early COVID months, a time when it would have been trivially easy to get shots of empty platforms and subway cars... and when Cuomo was in charge of the MTA.

Blue line down on 4th Ave for the marathon! Good luck, runners. I can’t wait for the best day of the year.

This entire article is one big Bikelash Mad Libs, a phenomenon we discuss in the book. I wonder if people subconsciously absorb this stuff from other bike lane fights or if comments like it are baked into the NIMBY brain.
