December 8, 2025 was the day that the Oasis "online gaming platform" released in the Ready Player One universe.
Meanwhile in our universe, since March 2021 I have been active in an online platform thanks to VRChat which is actually the closest thing we are ever getting to that fictional concept.

The cartridge in question I was gonna trade-in. The store would have been cursed if they accepted it.

I am certain this particular unit was never used up until now. It feels like old-new stock but with a beat up box.

I got incredibly lucky today visiting my local Goodwill and acquired the funny Atari Flashback system that is actually a famiclone in disguise.
Oh yeah and Jumanji.

I would really appreciate folks to actually contribute to FamiWiki and not try to devolve it into unwanted nonsense. This is why new accounts require manual approval for contributions.

Apparently the next printing of the complete NES guide (the special edition) published by Pat Contri is going to include those complete NES cart labels. It isn't out yet so who knows how high quality those are going to be.
Said details were mentioned in his PRGE 2025 panel.

"Wanna see me release a fan translation of an unreleased video game a month after it leaked?"
"You wanna see me do it again?"

You ever consider how the video game term "plug and play" came into existence from a specific brand name of handheld "TV game" systems and people used it as the generic term to describe all systems like that?
It's the video game version of how Q-Tips became the generic term for cotton swabs.

If you look up "ghosts n goblins gameplay" the first result is gameplay footage of the arcade game by Media Pool. I get the vibes whoever was in charge of gathering material for editing didn't put much thought into what they were looking for.

Should also be noted that Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut is also one of the few to have its own NP branded packaging, so technically this is the official box art but I personally don't quite count it.

Just watched the iiSU presentation and while I am impressed with the user experience I am so bugged with how they used the Famicom Family (FF) logo and cut out one of the F characters.
It feels like it is missing something man please tell me I am not the only one who feels this way.

Was able to pick out a few Famicom cartridges today and I am really happy to get my hands on Battle City in particular. Surprised it took this long to get Pac-Man though.

Stopped by Goodwill and got my hands on a very peculiar cassette tape which was bundled with a children's book. This was published in Hong Kong by Sun Ya Publications in 1983. I might get around to preserving this and uploading the contents to the Internet Archive.

happy 35th anniversary to the Super Famicom

Usually folks associate the lower brightness of these games to Virtual Console re-releases on Wii, 3DS, and Wii U. This was presumably done for similar reasons but retroactively applied to the rest of the library with no option to change it. At least we don't have to deal with it these days.

The Famicom version of Rampart has an interesting option that I don't think any other licensed release features. There is a "Filter" option which lowers the screen brightness. According to the manual it is intended to be "gentle on the eyes".

I won't link it here but you can find it over on the Internet Archive by searching Campus Challenge 1992. Currently we now have every version of the 1992 competition game apart from the "Japanese" one used in the Super Mario Club TV show, but the chances of this one getting found are slim.

This went under the radar but new ROMs have surfaced for Nintendo Champus Challenge 1992 and PowerFest '94. These were provided by user Yaderize and are currently playable via the Ares and Higan emulators. See the alt text for each title screen screenshot.

Updated my VRChat avatar to fix some bugs and also for an important addition to the Famicom cartridge accessories. Now I can show my virtual friends my personal holy grail.

Back in 1998 when the Earth Bound (Zero) prototype was released there were several users who were skeptical of its authenticity, some of who claimed it was "fake". It would eventually be confirmed real not long after and in hindsight was obviously legit.
Perhaps we can learn from this event?

Just caught Nookipedia mentioning this in their Legend of Zelda furniture item page. I have since corrected the page.

The Nintendo Switch is on the cusp of becoming the best selling Nintendo system ever but the Nintendo DS is barely hanging in there.
November 4, 2025 at 7:14 AM
I completely forgot about the NSO release in Japan being the FDS version! For some reason they still use box artwork from the Famicom cartridge release but the description for the game clears up it's the FDS version.
Guess because the FDS release never had cover art this was the best choice?

Reorganizing my Nintendo Switch game cards and I came to the realization I ran out of room in my dedicated case for them, they could hold up to 80 cards.
Is there another case that I could get which can also be easily expanded when needed? Preferably trying to aim for over 100 game cards.
