At the Darden Forum hotel. Clearly mandated bike parking designed by someone who has never biked. Front wheel in the bushes and no curb cut for access.

This was in December.

The Verve construction site closed all nearby bike lanes. Why? To ensure there was street space to park their own cars. And to store barrels.

Finally below the price at the election. It feels like the increase since last Nov wasn't based on anything real with the actual company. Drops in the share price from this point forward probably represent a more meaningful devaluing of the company.

Road in front of the Verve has been updated, but someone is going to have to explain to me what the point was. They moved the center line and added a white line. Oh and removed a bike lane in the process. It seems like they removed a bike lane to give cars more space.

Snow gives away where people actually want to walk.

Thanks for doing that, but yeah nothing new. Seems obvious to me: just move the sidewalk to where people already walk in the road (red). They probably say "but that crosses our entrance" (blue), but I say that's better than the crowded car-centric crossing they chose (purple).

Such wishful thinking that spending $50M+ to allow more people to drive to UVA will then inspire those same people to not use their cars to go other places. www.cbs19news.com/news/a-guide...

Construction companies might be the urbanists we wish the city were. I'm watching outside my office window as Faulconer has created a sidewalk with concrete barriers, removed street parking, and closed what amounts to a slip lane.

I refuse to buy trash stickers in a grocery store. Such a quaint, low-tech system demands purchasing by mail.

Anything to avoid blocking a car lane in Charlottesville.
December 4, 2024 at 10:49 PM
Seems like it is a makeshift sidewalk for construction on the Verve apartment building.

Classic Charlottesville: no aversion to using concrete on a road to create a protected bike lane, as long as it isn't for bikes, and when choosing to use a bike lane or car lane they sacrifice the bike lane.

I don't understand. They seem to have accidentally created a protected bike lane, but then blocked bikes from accessing it? No signs, of course. This is at JPA and Emmet.

Same on the sidewalk from Park St. along the bypass!

Update on Wahoo Commute after 1 month: 478 UVA employees have signed up and 433 have logged a trip! parking.virginia.edu/wahoocommute

I'm happy to have covered the most distance on a scooter.
