When they say “failed state” they also mean a state we invaded, sanctioned, or otherwise undermined and exploited.

If and when Trump leaves the scene, the country will still face a daunting task:

Who can channel the disruptive political energies of a society in which the established institutions have lost the people’s trust into a (small-d) democratic direction?

Among white people, the correlation between racial resentment and their voting decision is much, much stronger than between educational attainment and political alignment.

In fact, if you control for racial resentment, education polarization basically disappears.

To think of people with a college degree as synonymous with a “liberal elite” makes no sense: That group also includes those who graduated from the many religious-conservative colleges.

And there is little correlation between education and political alignment among people of color.

that's great.

when we had a universal masking policy we had some people who didn't know how to wear a proper mask properly, "forgot," claimed they were allergic, etc.

and masking for littles and kids with autism or sensory stuff can be challenging to say the least.

I'm less concerned about myself in the exam room than I am about other patients and families (unvaccinated babies!) in the waiting room and at the front desk. I can always mask to protect myself but littles can't!
