I think there's a group of people here who listened to it in 2001--maybe not a big group, but at least two.

I just hope we get to 2004, so that we can argue about 'The Grey Album' and 'Piracy Funds Terrorism.'

Me, talking to a group of History Day kids: So, here are five pieces of research material about the Wilco album YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT. We’re going to talk about whether these are primary, secondary, or tertiary sources.

Kid: My dad likes that album.

Need to put these two in different conferences, so if they meet at all, it's in the finals:

Rick Springfield would've been 32 at the time--I'm guessing there's someone older, but it's a start.

In 2010, artist Myong Kurily and Kidrobot released these vinyl toys for the 20th anniversary of 3 FEET. They're visually pretty simple, but I think they do a good job capturing each member of the group:

Of the remaining three albums, which has the most extravagant special edition? Is it the Paul's Boutique 8x7" box set? The De La 12x7" box? Against most albums, it's probably one of these. But the 2009 Pixies box set 'Minotaur' is a literal monolith.

Fugazi for the DIY, staunchly radical, book-your-own-life-ness.

De La for taking hip-hop from black and white into full color with real, honest, positive lyrics, gigantic influence, and one of the best sample-based albums ever assembled.

Memoir/autobio-wise, 'Beastie Boys Book' is very good.

There's a 33 1/3 about COSMIC THING. The B-52s also made an appearance in some Archie comics and a picture book.

For people who want to know more about the Athens music scene of the time, I recommend 'Party Out of Bounds' and 'Cool Town.'
