Was talkin' with a peep about how fucking a dragon might be fun. The teeth, the claws, the fire, that sorta thing.

A semi-surreal two panel drawing of a woman being "intimate" with a dragon. I hesitate to call it sex, cause there's no penetration and this is more like graphic foreplay. The Dragon's body is long and serpentine, acting as a sort of metaphysical barrier, creating the panel formatting, while also interacting with the woman. In the first panel (on the top left) the woman "embraces" the dragon, placing her head lightly in its mouth in a sort of strange kiss, as it licks her. The act is oddly gentle; she is not cut or hurt by its teeth, nor does it make any attempt to eat her (although I'm sure she'd be fine with it) The second panel is more graphic, with two of the Dragon's claws reaching from their weird positions and almost gently, carving into the woman's back. If she's in pain, she does not show it. The idea behind this was basically trying to showcase a strange intimacy without actually being overtly sexual (obviously, there are sexual undertones but that's how my mind works). I hope I succeeded and that you like it!

I deeply enjoyed this one! It starts off seeming like individual stories (and it still is by the end) but there's so much world building! So many little threads tying together in a beautiful web that paints a bigger canvas! What a lovely anthology~
The illustrated cover for the Brute of Greengrave by Jemma Topaz. As with any anthology, some stories hit different than others. I'll try and list my favorites, but again, they all tie together into a bigger picture so take this listing with a grain of salt. Predatory Finance: I really liked this one. The dream of wealth is not something new for a lot of us; usually, we depict it with rose-colored lens. We imagine it to be pretty and clean, but this story takes a more real, stark approach. Even with wealth, even with connections to the disenfranchised and the down-trodden, the insane wealth-gap in our society is inherently unbalanced and cruel. Its very, very real, and very, very sad. Sabine is such a... a pathetic person. Hopeless and ignorant. I hope she changes in the future and finds a better life for herself than the one she has now, because as it is, she's lonely and sad. Why Enoki is the best Cat-Doll: Short and sweet. The ending just made me happy. The Scent of Witches and Hellhounds: I liked it, but I honestly wish we coulda seen more with the hellhounds, y'know? They kinda felt a little more interesting than the witches in this specific tale and it kinda wrapped up too fast. I wish it leaned a little more into its "researcher" vibe. Some shall be Pardoned: The reveals in this one made me sequel. I won't spoil any of it. But it really did a great job as a final bow on the whole book. Greencombe Abbey: I wonder if Greencombe became Greengrave and if the child of Catherine and Dolores was related to Veronika in some way... Artemisia's Doll Boutique: A strange one. I like it a lot, but... What a strange vibe it gives me. I suppose it was just... It was nice seeing dolls being treated well, but still being products? I dunno. Its good tho. The Brute of Greengrave: The titular story; it was fun as hell, but I do wish there was a little more drama in the planning and execution of the big event. Overall, that's all I got space for. Good stuff~

This started off as just a fun comic/drawing idea, but I think I might make it into a short story, if I can figure out all the pieces.

Why I like people offering up their meat to be eaten, I do not know. But I do, we'll keep getting it :P

A two panel comic page with some meta use of the formatting; on the top panel sits some sort of wealthy patron. She's eating a lump of raw meat that oozes blood everywhere, but specifically, the blood dribbles down to the bottom panel, revealing the source of the meat to be some poor soul who's willingly offered her flesh for some unknown reason. Her body is bandaged and trembling implying she's offered more of her flesh before and will continue to do so in the future. The two panels are contrasted with each other. The top is glimmering; shining gold and warm lights. The table is laid out (relatively neatly if we ignore the blood) with a table cloth and the Patron is sitting on a soft, plush chair. Everything in the panel, barring the blood and the meat implies comfort and warmth. The second panel on the other hand is gloomy; rotting even. The walls are green-gray and the furniture is splintered and falling apart. Its a dingy, unpleasant space, but a mirror not just metaphorically, but physically to the top panel, with it following a similar composition. The poor soul on the bottom speaks in slightly jagged, uneven wording, with the lettering partially concealed by the falling blood. Their words covered by their own blood, showing the Patron barely concerned at all with the situation at hand. Even as the Poor soul offers the flesh and their concern, to the Patron it is but another meal. Cannibalism is a fun metaphor because it can be used in so many ways. I think in this specific one, it feels very capitalistic. Fitting considering how the news cycle has been lately and I think I could do the idea justice in a short story, so... wish me luck, I suppose. I hope you liked it and reading all my thoughts and nonsense.

I kinda understand why this is so popular now. Its very... different. Its a... slower, very real take on force-fem? Its hard to phrase but its very good.

Maybe a few too many characters, I got confused as it went on ngl XD

What can I say here that so many others haven't? I understand what weetabix is now, so that's something. Jokes aside, its a very good book. As I read it, its a very... trans-fem take on the force fem genre, more so than Alyson's previous books like Kimmy, where its more allegorical. Here Stef is objectively trans; he/she says so themselves (I'm not sure what pronouns to use since they chose he/him, but by the end Pippa wants to use she/her. I think I'll just use they for now, since I'm a bit at a loss) and they are our view point into the rest of this strange, strange world. Theres ironically, not a lot of "immediate" force-fem action in this book; that follows since it uses very realistic methods like HRT and diet adjustments. Its naturally quite slow (relatable) and its... interesting. Its not the obvious fantasy of most other stories in the genre where someone snaps their fingers and bam, tits. Dorley sort of... leans into the harsh reality of changing your gender and identity; its slow, it is a little unnerving, it can be underwhelming especially at first. God, its a weird story. I really like it, and I can't really explain why. Maybe its the whole idea of just being given HRT, not just for free, but with someone actively helping you through it. Maybe its the... the companionship? Like, seeing Christine and Paige and Pippa all together. Seeing Stef and Aaron, as weird as it is, getting closer? Like Aaron's a weird guy, but... You want to see him become someone better; become a her that is better than him. I dunno. I feel there's nuance that I'm just not skilled enough to vocalize. At least not in my current mind set. But maybe someday. I think I enjoy How to Fly a bit more; fewer characters and I like Max a bit more than Stef. But still a great read. A lot of fun.

I was really struggling with this one. The details were so fun but I couldn't quite get it beyond that. Eventually I just started some of the shading and that's when it clicked. Sometimes it just needs time~

A butch mechanic working on some sort of droid, while smoking. The scene is faintly illuminated, largely from the machine, as it is being worked on. Story: My chest unit feels warm. Perhaps that is incorrect to describe it as. I sense temperature fluctuations in my immediate vicinity, but I don't think I feel in the same sense that humans do. My sensors are far more sensitive. "Does it look fine?" I speak up as loud as I can over the hum of machinery and the fires of repair. I am not the only one being fixed. But I am the only one being focused on by my mechanic; not technically mine. We all share a few. The work is too specialized and there are too few mechanics and engineers. A problem for the humans, yes. Not for me. Not yet at least. My mechanic still cares for me. She lets out a soft grunt as she continues to fix my energy systems, "You're reckless. You took a blast straight on. You should be dead." "I can't die." I clarify softly. "Fine. Be deleted. Become unsalvageable. Whatever term you want to use." She sounds annoyed. No, she is annoyed. I've been with her long enough to know that. "One of these days, you're gonna come back here and I won't be able to fix you." "That won't happen. You are the best, aren't you?" She clicks her tongue, "Everyone has limits." She steps back and exhales smoke, stamping out the cigarette as she examines her repair work. "Smoking is bad for you." "A suicidal combat droid, shouldn't be lecturing me on life span." "We're a fitting pair then." She smirks at my joke. I love that smirk. She reaches over to my energy core and fits it back in gently. She's so rough with her words, but her handiwork is always so graceful and soft. "Alright. Just gotta clean you up and you'll be good as new." "Thank you." "Don't mention it. Just don't get yourself blown up again." I give her a non-committal sound. I can't promise that. Heavy damage is the only time mechanics come out. And I can't wait to see her again already...

Becca's friend screams in horror at the events that just happened. But as she relates the story, she reveals she called the police (don't do that btw, ACAB after all) and that there was no blood or trace of any violence or magic. With no Becca and no proof, the friend would eventually leave that house, not willing to stay in that strange place (good choice) and that she never saw Becca again (Sad, but hopefully they're both happy) The end; I hope you liked it~ lemme know you're thoughts if you're reading this!

Becca's friend, foolishly thinks that's okay. But she does admit she lowered her guard because Becca was being co-operative. Meanwhile we see that Becca is cutting the tips of her fingers later. Just to be clear, there is a time gap between these two panels. Sorry if its a little weird, this was a VERY early attempt at comic style story telling by me.

Gaddamn. What a dark, upsetting story. I loved it. Been a while since I read a story that had me so reading non-stop.

I'm only a little upset it didn't tie into Pink Diamond more, but hopefully we'll see more of Isadora's adventures eventually...

I'm a sucker for hard-boiled noir stories and this did not disappoint. Isadora is such a cynical character, simultaneously distrustful and wanting to help people. Its deeply compelling and relatable in this day and age honestly (proof we all live in a cyberpunk noir dystopia). The mystery and story aspect is also paced out wonderful. The whole thing played out so well and the end reveal is lovely. So intense, so dramatic. My only real critique is with the end of the book... It sorta comes out of nowhere. Not that it isn't set up earlier on through explicit dialogue, but... It feels a little forced. (MINOR SPOILERS FROM HERE) A way to make Isadora feel guilty when she really shouldn't honestly? I'm very much of the option, she did everything right within her knowledge and power and all the guilt tripping felt very... random. A way to make a bleak story even darker when it really didn't need it. We already got to see how fucked the system is, how fucked the way these human lives are treated. It almost becomes parody by the end. I don't dislike it, but I don't think much would've been lost if it ended on... I dunno, a different tone. I imagine Isadora already feels guilty enough thinking about how she might've been able to stop these events, but... I dunno. I dunno. And as I mentioned in the blurb, I think it could've tied into Pink Diamond more. The world of the aforementioned feels completely different to KTP. Not even in terms of hope or idealism. In terms of grunge, depth, characters and so on. I wish there were a few more elements to connect them and hopefully a future story does that better than this one. Overall, I enjoyed my time. If you like dark noir stories, no reason to not enjoy this one. Maybe read Hades calculus first though for some context :P

Its very OP, if not a little disturbing. The screams do not leave your soul.

Another one I'm late to. For a noir detective short story, its kinda... relaxing? Hopeful? Hard to say. Its good whatever the case.
I'm a sucker for hardboiled detectives and Isa is just that. Its made me excited to read her next adventure right now~

Don't take that as a flaw here, though; its a short story, I knocked it out in an hour or two, if even that. So, the mystery doesn't exactly have time to breathe and develop. Its a fairly simple adventure, with Isa not doing a whole lot of detecting so much as meeting with others who have the information she needs; in a way its more honest about the nature of the work. Pink Diamond comes off more as a character drama more than a detective story and it excels at that in my opinion. Even characters who only appear briefly are so well realized and showcased in their natures and perspectives. Of course, the star of the show, Isa, gets most of the development and it works well there, since by the end, she's actually working to improve herself and rise up from the muck of her life. Noir stories rarely, if ever get happy endings or at least happy in the truest sense of the word. At best, we have stories of escape, survival and change. Pink Diamond subverts this by asking, "What if the main character did want more than just suffering with the underbelly of the city?" Its refreshing, if questionable. It is still "noir", i.e. "black", if you embrace hope? I don't know. I can't presume to be a very smart person, with the ability to parse a lot of that. But I like the idea that it is... a potential possibility. Especially in a day and age where every day seems bleaker and bleaker IRL, having a story start off darker and strive to be... well, a little more than that. Its nice.
