Edmonton guy in Ottawa. Also a hack guitarist, reformed journalist, and GC head of comms.

Black in Black is an undeniably great album, but the ultimate test record for sound checking high-end audio systems belongs to Joe Jackson.
1984's Body and Soul is an early all-digital recording. Tons of dynamics.
I never go stereo component shopping without it.

An old idea whose time has come again.
In 1988, my first new car was a factory order. All the stuff I wanted, none of what I didn't. (And about the only way to get a V8 and 5 speed stick combo in the malaise era - they certainly weren't on the GM lots.)

I'm reminded that tomorrow is a sacred day of remembrance for Ukrainians and those of us with roots in Ukraine.
Russian aggression is hardly a recent development.

If you see this, post your getaway vehicle.

Interesting piece. Good sleuthing too.
For my family, this is the one that counts most. My dad's oldest brother. Our D-Day hero. #JunoBeach

My youngest days are flying before my eyes!
I had both helicopters, and the York, and the Hunter. Quite the pipsqueak playground pilot, I was.

Communities commemorate veterans and our fallen in ways as simple as paint on the roadway in Ottawa or as elaborate as personalized banners on light posts in towns like Perth.
It is heartening to see more municipalities help all of us to #RememberThem.

If you see this, post an album cover with a motor vehicle on it.

Remind you of any other era?

We've seen this before. At least Weegee did.

Tail fins and fallen leaves.

Who's this guy? Bad enough that they're out to destroy our economy. Now they inflict his version of O Canada on the world.

Crikey! That's not a ballroom. This is a ballroom!

I'm sure the pieces have already been parted out.

I'll take Tearing Down Democracy for 200 points, Stewart.

Sansui! My first stereo components were the 5900 series. Teenaged audio heaven. Later upgraded to more powerful 717s to compete with electric guitar practice. But the originals soldier on. 🔊

One of the best shows I ever saw was Steve Miller at the Ex in Ottawa in 1979. Super chill, with incredible musicianship.
I took my younger brother...his first rock concert. Still talks about it 45-plus years later.
So yeah, picker. 🎸

The Clash. The one band from my era that I wished I would have seen live but never did. No shows where I lived and little cash to get to where they performed. Sadly, no reunion tours either.
Closest I got was eventually seeing Joe's well-worn Tele up close at the Met in NYC in 2019.
It had to do.

My favourite pose. 👇
Cyd and Fred were amazing in this flick.

Today is a good day to absorb the writings of Niigaan Sinclair in this great book about Winnipeg's place in Indigenous history and Canadian society.
A step anyone can take towards reconciliation.

Showed up on time, but couldn't see anything.
Maybe they were below periscope depth.

And where my uncle stayed.
Expensive real estate.

At least it appears to be legally parked. More than I can say for this circus wagon, caught at Ottawa's Lansdowne Park a few weeks ago.
