Nice charity-shop find today; at first sight it reads ‘Dave Mason’, but it’s Dare Mason (no, me neither).
It’s a lovely, evocative, inventive instrumental album in the ambient/chill-out genre. I don’t know enough about said genre to say whether it’s OK, good or brilliant in its field but I like it!

Again the album is pictured on a grey floor background. The CD was a charity-shop find. Priced at £1, I took a punt in it (I’ve never heard of Dare Mason before) and imho it’s really good; atmospheric, evocative, melodic and absorbing to listen to. It fits I suppose into ‘ambient’/‘chill-out’ music - which I’m not well up on, so I’ve no idea whether it’s good, standard-average or brilliant in its field…? I really like it, anyway and would recommend it if it sounds like your sort of thing. No idea how you’d get hold of it on CD, though, as there isn’t much about it or him on t’internet.

I thought that I was joking, but here’s Milnthorpe crossroads at 8.50 this morning….! Truth is stranger than fiction, etc.
Screenshot from Google Earth of congestion in the centre of Cumbrian town Milnthorpe this morning. The crossroads is one big, 4-way traffic-jam. I’m not sure if this is an everyday occurrence here at going-to-work/school-run time or whether there has been an accident or ongoing roadworks.

Weather-wise, it’s looking very wet for SW Eng ; one intense line of rain, with a second big wet splodge trundling in behind it from the west. Area of very heavy rain showing over Snowdonia, and also out at sea over the Isle of Man. Wet too over central Scotland and the Lake District. Ireland largely dry, but general, orographic rain over Northern Ireland. Eastern England, Wilts, Hants, Sussex and Kent plus the Scottish Highlands largely dry. For now….

When you actually see the garment and then think “western jacket” - eg the Wrangler or Levi‘s denim/cord item - the concept doesn’t seem so bizarre….
(Whispers: “Not sure that me and Mrs as two seventy-year-olds are quite the demographic.”😂)

The timber is in an attractive, fireglo red-orange sunburst with a dark cream scratchplate/pickguard and chrome metalwork. The guitar head has the distinctive two-way, three-in-line tuners format of the Ricky 12-stringers and bears the curved-arrow, Rickenbacker nameplate. Gorgeous guitar, if I had the money!

In the search that led to finding Mr. Penuel George Corbin, I also turned up this pic (a bit grainy!) of Taunton’s School Staff in 1960. I started there as an earnest but breezy 11yr old in my little round ‘Alf Garnett’ NHS specs in 1962, so most of these teachers were familiar to me.

It’s ‘Cayley Express’ btw. How much of this is regularly open off-season may be an issue, but there’s always next summer for a rematch v the seven-year-olds😂

Looks like a sophisticated conversion of a Filipino Jeepney (which were themselves converted from US WW2 Army surplus Jeeps). It is resplendent in a crisp red,white and green paint-job. It is a hugely-popular feature on the new Rhos promenade and serves excellent, good-value refreshments.

Not long left (deadline 31 October) if you are a National Trust member and haven’t yet voted in the AGM. It’s quick and easy to do online (have your Membership card to hand), and voting for the NT’s recommended resolutions and election candidates is a convenient way to support its aims and work.

Photos, Steve - hope you weren’t holding your breath for all this time…! We downsized houses a few yrs ago so it was a matter of making time to move stuff (grandchildren’s toys, etc 😂) to be able to get to the guitar. A bit more info in the alt text, like wot the excellent Weird Guitars bloke does!
1963 Watkins Rapier 44 left-handed electric guitar in the standard red colour; a very popular, budget-priced range of guitars at the time and an economical way to buy a proper left-handed guitar. Which was the reason that I bought it in 1979 (?). Someone has replaced the original bridge at some point with a (better) six-saddle alternative. The headstock on this one is red like the body and bears the original gold-and-black “Watkins” water-slide transfer; on some models the headstock is in varnished natural wood. Someone has had it re-fretted at some stage and has had new (better) machine-heads fitted. The guitar is really nice, responsive and comfortable to play, with a really nice, low action. The guitar still has its tremolo/vibrato arm and the mechanism still works nice and effectively - but the micro-tune replacement bridge that it now has doesn’t really suit tremolo wanging like the original, simpler bar-bridge was designed to do. The Watkins Rapier 44 guitar in the home-made case that I made for it. There was/still is (?) a firm called Adam Hall Supplies where you can get handles, hinges, corner-plates, etc. for cases, speaker cabs, amps and flight-cases. The case is painted in an olive green because at the time I really, really fancied painting the XTC logo and the white horse from their “English Settlement” album-cover on it but haven’t as yet got round to actually doing it (umpteen years later…😂).

😃I keep coming back to look at this; puts me in mind of an Impressionist painting (can’t remember which artist), or maybe the work of Corot or Maurice de Vlaminck.

A really, really nice stout from Aldi! Deep brown beer in a tall glass, brown bottle to one side, with the bottle top in front of them. The ‘still-life’-style arrangement is on a glass-topped table, with a pineapple plant in a white pot, a green stone sphere and an agate coaster also in the composition. Below the table a calamondin plant in a white pot can also be seen. Cheers to everyone for their Saturday afternoon !

Coincidentally, I had taken a pic yesterday of some sycamore leaves that my little grandchildren collected on our way home from school on Friday afternoon. Yours look more exotic - a Norway maple, maybe ?
A collection of sycamore leaves (the individual leaf shape is similar to the maple on a Canadian flag). A big range of autumnal colours from deep purple-browns and deep blueish-greens through to shades of yellow, orange, fiery-red and russet. My grandchildren chose them as we walked home from their school on Friday.

Rare Gibson Firebird V-12 electric guitar in a blue shade called ‘Aqua Mist’. The guitar is in a non-reverse body format and is displayed on a black sofa. Priced at what seems a very realistic £5120.19; maybe ask Santa!

Screenshot of my check of German grammar/spelling before sending a reply on a ‘guitars’ thread. My enquiry was ‘That is a beautiful guitar - in German’. The reply ‘Das ist eine wunderschönen Gitarre’. It was; the German guy posting had made a Telecaster-style electric guitar, using wood from an old wine/spirits (?) barrel for the body. Cherry-red body, white scratchplate, maple neck: superb!
