Seems like the Crown bracket was made to intentionally keep Georgetown and DePaul away from each other. The fourth meting between the Hoyas and Blue Demons can only happen in the championship game.

All I wanted was Georgetown having to travel to Fairfax but something called the Crown unfortunately exists.
Just four out of 32 teams in the NIT field hail from a power conference: SMU, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech and Stanford. So a ton of teams likely declined, Rutgers among them.

George Washington's press release on the Crown includes this important nugget:

The tournament will also feature an NIL prize fund that totals $500,000 for the semifinalists and finalists.

It's an old Big East matchup in the Crown when DePaul and Cincinnati face off in the first round.

When I saw this pairing I was immediately taken back to the 2009 BET when the 0-18 Blue Demons upset the Bearcats in the first round.

I am not a college basketball serious professional but is there any reason why I should look at the field for the Crown basketball tournament in Vegas thing and not feel like its a giant fucking bummer?

The NIT got kneecapped for this thing?!?
