Britain’s media will condemn the racist abuse at Anfield while continuing to platform racists and downplay racism.

Not surprising that the worst people in society feel emboldened

I invoke @ianbetteridge.com

Fundamentally they bought a club with zero debt that finished third while sanctioned, and that club is now 4th a 1bn+ in debt
Big picture: is it time to give Chelsea some credit? And where does fair criticism stick?

A look at Chelsea's unique model three years in - a club where you have to forget everything you instinctively know about football.

Chelsea: Is it time to give 'disruptors' some credit?
Chelsea's recent approach has been difficult to understand at times - but Nizaar Kinsella wonders whether it is time to start giving them some credit.

The fact Chelsea are able to sign KDH and flip him a year later for a fee that basically covers their remaining commitment to him, that he's okay with it and that it's an accepted part of the 'business' now is a significant part of why I increasingly hate football. Not dislike, hate.

Once you go on loan having played for Chelsea, you're basically done under this ownership. Trev has come closest but we all know they'd accept a bid.

The long goodbyes these create is fucking depressing, especially the club's shitty behaviour bourne of their own incompetence.

This is Maresca ball sadly. Lining up preferred agents’ pockets while trying to be somewhat competitive to hide the act of doing so.
George potentially being sold is really shit. It's not surprising given the desperation to add their own prospects but it's just further chipping away at potential Cobham routes into the senior team. There's nothing they can do that is good enough for this regime, despite their own mediocrity.

They got their CFG-approved version in Gittens. Chelsea get more sky blue by the day.

Now that he's gone (for now, at least), ciao Felix must be a shout for worst ever Chelsea purchase.

Who else makes the shortlist?

I vote for Torres (don't bother mentioning the goal in camp nou that didn't affect the result or winning the corner in the final, lol).

Ozzy Osbourne visited my magic shop. He said he'd like to buy some stink bombs. How many? All of them. I had to go through drawers finding every last one. He bought 900 of them. To sign the credit card slip I handed him a shock pen, which he thought was hilarious and bought that too. RIP

And this is where I'm at, obviously, not that long since I posted it. The big question isn't about Delap, but who he's a second to; early window noises seem to suggest they're looking to move Jackson on and get a new main 9 with Delap as the rotation piece. He can't be your CL striker right now.
There's a massive space between Delap banging in the goals for a dominant City academy and what he's doing as a talisman for a relegated side that has more questions than answers; the skill set required to do what Jackson does isn't easy to come by. Price and connections dominating the conversation.

(Let it also be said I'm very leery of signing expensive forwards from Eintracht as well because their record of developing and selling players on is great for them but decidedly mixed for everyone else)

The folk in charge at Chelsea clearly think their latest briefing automatically wipes the last one from the history of the internet

Maignan interest cooled, current keepers to fight it out at CWC
then…
Petrovic out of CWC, loaned players won’t travel
then..
Andrey Santos will travel to CWC

Five years ago fan groups protested the proposal of a closed competition where meritocracy was scarcely at the heart of participation while it signalled the deprioritisation of domestic football.

In 2025 those same fans are celebrating signings being rushed specifically for a very similar concept.

'full trust' but we wanted to replace you, sorry about that.
🚨 EXCL: Mike Maignan deal now OFF between Chelsea and AC Milan. ❌🇫🇷 Chelsea not willing to meet Milan price, deal not proceeding in time for Club World Cup as #CFC won’t pay “CWC tax”. #CFC mantain full trust in Petrović, Sánchez, Jorgensen + talent Mike Penders for GK role.

If Maignan arrives for the rumoured £18m, we'll have 4 of the top 30 most expensive GKs ever (Jorgenson, Sanchez, Maignan, Penders) and another one in the top 50 on our books at once. That's always been the actual issue, not dubiously including academy players.
Chelsea have released three goalkeepers, Marcus Bettinelli is in talks with Man City and Kepa Arrizabalaga is available for £5m. The nine goalkeepers jibe is looking less relevant.

Gittens is probably a bit unfortunate to hit 3 bugbears with the fanbase:
- everyone is tired of Shields schtick
- we've had a terrible recent history with Bundesliga attackers
- we've bought so many wingers under this ownership and largely shit
