The pitch reads: Seth and Crispin Scurlock were raised as blood bastards—orphans taken in for their magical potential by one of the city's most notorious blood-magic crime bosses. Four years ago, after a job gone wrong, Crispin sided with their father and Seth left the family business; neither brother has ever forgiven the other. But then their father is murdered. What's more, he was hit with a bloodline curse before his death—and since Seth and Crispin took a blood oath to guarantee their family loyalty when they were young, they're just as vulnerable to the curse as their father's biological children. Now the estranged siblings will have three days to sort through their father's many enemies, find his murderer, and break the bloodline spell before it kills them too. Assuming they don't kill each other first, of course.
