Its just cool finding stuff in games people say aren't very good and then finding cool stuff in it too. Mighty No. 9 has a reputation for being awful but it's really just 'okay,' and there is cool stuff in it like Raychel's story

its like seeing "7/10 is average because anything less isn't worth your time" and like...no? That kind of scaling genuinely makes no sense to me. Heck, even AVERAGE media sometimes has stuff to take away from it, but the threshold for bad shouldn't be Sonic Forces or something.

Marvelous experience I had a bit ago; was in VC and they asked "Has anyone ever put a Kangaroo into a fighting game?" and I got to introduce them to Roger. The laughing fit they went on when they saw the wiki page was amazing

I hated the combat in KH3, enemies being able to just stop getting hit, fall out of comboes, and PUNISH YOU for it just sucked.

You could argue part of the issue was I went straight to Critical mode but still

There's several friends I've either convinced to buy, or gifted, 100% Orange Juice and only played it with them once each but it is still absolutely worth it for the price every time.

I think the easy answer is 'perfect dodging looks stylish.' You can put big cool slow-mo on stuff and make it satisfying to pull off, but it makes it harder to telegraph and reward proper spacing when that might be way riskier or not feel as impactful.

But then the games still have a very fast instant dash move that immediately gets you out of the range of all attacks instantly. It's not a 'perfect dodge' but why would I NOT want to use it? The only reason you parry is the rare time they put an obstacle that just requires you to parry it.

One of the most annoying examples of this is in Spark the Electric Jester 2 and 3. Enemies will have the flash thing to tell you when to parry, except the timing between the flash and the attack CHANGES based on the move. You can parry on reaction and be too fast and then get punished.

I have a soft spot for strategy guides but never realized how bad some of them were on stuff like that.

For Shadow The Hedgehog, one stage says "The main point of the mission is to follow a planned route" with no map or anything like its obvious. The 'planned route' ended up looking like this.

The strategy guide for Kingdom Hearts 1 does not tell you that you can stop Sephiroth's Heartless Angel (the move that sets you to 1 HP and 0 MP) by hitting him while he's casting it and instead recommends just using Elixers

358/2's also straight up mislabels where one objective is in its guide

Extremely delicate work. The reason they save this for one of the last parts of game development is because if the Giraffes are not placed carefully, they will actually leap out of the game engine and kill the programmers. Very unfortunate. it's why we don't have Ape Escape 4.

every single time someone reworks Sonic kit in concept or in mods they ALWAYS keep the stupid spring and I always thought that was the lamest, least creative, laziest thing they could've possibly used for Uspecial.
