Happy Dragon Age Day! 🐲🖤

As my love for these games (especially DAI--we all know it's my favorite) has grown, it's been cool to witness my ability to create growing alongside (and because of) that love. So, wrt crocheting for DA, here's one of my first pieces, and one of my most recent!

A photograph of two (free handed) crocheted dolls displayed on a white fleece blanket. Both amigurumi are of Blackwall (Dragon Age Inquisition). The one on the left is a piece I made years ago when I was still a beginner at making crocheted dolls. The face is kind of muppet-esque, with very few details, but enough of a likeness to the character to be (imo) unmistakably him. His arms are folded across his chest, and his eyes are looking up from under dark, thick eyebrows. This piece is smaller than the one beside it, and while still detailed, leans more toward cartoonish(?) in a way I struggle to describe. The piece on the right is much larger than the first, with carefully chosen colors throughout the piece, especially on the outfit. The level of detail on it is sort of similar to those on the first, but are more carefully and considerately applied, which results in a more realistic likeness.

A crocheted Dragon Age Inquisition Inquisitor. This Inquisitor is an elf with dark skin, a while vallaslin (face tattoo) dark/red braids, gold earrings, an emerald nose piercing, some face scars, and bright green eyes (with green eyeshadow/liner). His pointed ears stick out from his hair, and he's wearing The Fugitive's Mantle from DA2 (in a dark green). His leather gloves are finger-less, his boots are brown and belted, and his right shoulder has a bit of spiked armor. The collar to the mantle is fur-lined. ALSO, if you squeeze him, he squeaks, because there's a squeaker in his chest. This ami is just over 8 inches tall. In this image, he's leaning against a white backdrop and facing a bit to the viewer's right. Same crocheted ami as in the previous image, but held in my super fucking pale hand to show the size.

DOS2 undefeated!

(Easily over 1250 hours in DAI, too, but not all on one platform, and I haven't put as much time into that as I have DOS2--only shocking if you don't understand how much I adore DOS2 (the amount is so enormous as to be incomprehensible))

Sorry, I keep thinking about this, so I'm gonna yap more. During DAI, Mira reaches most often for the comfort that's most easily accessible + allows her to multitask in some way, because her days are busy and her nights, when her time is her own, aren't nearly as long as she'd like them to be. Drinking with friends/coworkers/whatever is relaxing, but it's also work, in a way: she's maintaining her social life, she's checking in with the people around her, building goodwill with subordinates and making time to be around (and one of) regular folk— which is where she wants to be, but not where her position really allows her to spend a lot of time. Like, damn, that's kinda exhausting, even though she does enjoy it. And the things she does to relax outside of that—spending time with other people who aren't her Person—are pretty basic throughout DAI, and most of it is still her multitasking. She wants to relax? Okay, then she'll take a bath (washing up done for the day now), or take a nap (finally, some much-needed sleep, even if it's just an hour or two), or read and have some coffee (she needs something to keep her awake for the next meeting, and she's behind on the reports she's meant to look over). Honestly, intimate time with Thom probably is the only thing she does to relax that actually counts as her relaxing. Post-DAI, she's better able to figure out what she actually enjoys, and even though it's a lot of the same things, it's different when she can do them without categorizing them in her head as Thing She Needed To Do Anyway. She does like baths (fancy oils and soaking feel good!), and reading (for pleasure!), and mid-day coffee (for flavor!), and naps (didn't need one, but wanted one, so took one!). She rediscovers her love for gardening, then discovers that she loves to swim, and that it tires her out in a way she finds really pleasant. She likes to sit and watch animals that come to the lakeside, and will put food out for them, and sometimes-- Truncated

Mira really does like playing in the dirt, though. See: this drawing I did of a young Mira after "helping" with the planting. She's never been fussed about getting dirty (one of the many reasons she's always preferred practical clothes to anything nice-- she doesn't have to worry about ruining it).
An old (and rough!) digital drawing I did a while back of my OC, Mira, as a child, maybe around ten years old? or even a bit younger. She has no vallaslin (hasn't earned it yet) and is wearing a loose long-sleeved shirt. Both the shirt, and her face and hair, are covered in dirt. She's smiling awkwardly, maybe a little embarrassed, probably getting lightly scolded for getting so filthy before supper. Her grey eyes are wide, and she has a } smile as she looks up, like you couldn't possibly be toooo upset at her, look how cute she is! #OCMira is a snarky little shit who pulls off a perfect deadpan. Given that she spends most of her time with Thom, Solas, and Dorian—all perfectly happy to be snarky shits as well—I'd say that her humor is absolutely appreciated, at least when she's on the road. In the war room, not so much, maybe.
