I was just skeptical (and worried) because I can’t understand why they’d take up the case of the text of the 14th amendment is pretty clear on this issue. But as I said, I’m out of my depth here.

The “Stamped from the Beginning” documentary on Netflix talks about her a little bit (with respect to how all Black women have had a “Phillis Wheatley moment” -> moments where Black women have needed to prove themselves because their credentials, talents, and abilities are questioned).

Except, Rufo can’t make his claim w/o the presumption that Western culture(s) (more generally) or [white] American culture (more specifically) are inherently good. Thus, any cultural mixing would be problematic.

I’d be more interested in learning about the history of said societies rather than believing they have a backward or deficient cultural matrix.

The problem is that Rufo and Musk inherently assume that “Western”culture(s) are automatically good and moral while ignoring the destructive history of the West.

And to the degree that they would ascribe some negative aspect to Western culture(s), they blame it on foreigners.

I think that one poll that had her w/in two points is what caught people’s attention, but I personally thought that was an outlier. But I guess we’ll see how close the polls were when we get the results.

Flipping a +22 Trump district was always going to be at tall order & she was unlikely to win.

But the fact that she’s competitive and swinging districts towards Dems is a good sign.
