It's a marketing / usage-driving choice. The more parasocial the tool the more it will drive its users - especially the lonely & isolated - to interact with it on the regular. It's the social media model of engagement farming & should be curtailed since the algo has limited control upon release.

I'm wondering if this has to do with the "always-on" hustle-culture and the difficulty of disconnecting for some Zoomers so the idea of mini-retirement for them is to disconnect entirely for a couple of weeks. One of my kids struggles to disconnect ever while the other just did at camp for 2 wks.
