Can’t skeet ever since the war. I use posts.

I park my pickup on a side street adjacent to my building. There are no posted restrictions on the street. Someone complained to bylaw that my rear bumper was 20 cm too close to their driveway. The city rule is to leave 1.6 meters. They wrote me a warning.

School is the place to expand beyond the routine of life. Not a place to learn how to boil water. For some students, it will be the last place they’ll ever need to think critically and channel their emotions into thoughtful argument.

Problem is: these are things parents should be doing, not schools. Teachers should (and many do) be leading conversations about the structure of society, one’s place in it, our duties and responsibilities to the social system.

Usually it’s stuff like
- balance a cheque book
- change the oil on a car
- preserve a jar of peaches
- dress a superficial wound..
