I've been thinking about getting my own server for a while now, so I can host some things myself. Today, in just 2.5 hours and no prior knowledge, I went from zero to setting up a VPS with Ubuntu, Coolify, and FreshRSS, filled with all my previous feeds. Love the amazing UX of @coolify.io

The gall, the audacity, the gumption! 🤌✨

I learned about the 17th and 18th c. era of Romanticism yesterday. But I can impulsively initiate 21st century Romantic Resurgence within that time, I have that right. I wrote about it: substack.com/@drrachelbar...

I tried using some more AI for specific tasks, but too often it just left me feeling mentally exhausted. When I have a clear vision of what I want and the AI produces slop, it feels like playing a slot machine which is just frustrating and draining 🎰
AI has always promised to help people spend more time doing valuable work by automating the manual, repetitive, toilsome tasks so that software developers can be free to use their time on "something better".

That's not what's happening.
The promise that wasn’t kept
AI is distracting us from creating real value. While we chase speed and automation, meaningful and human-centered work is getting left behind. Is this progress?

Congrats to @gruntled.bsky.social and @svelte.dev for becoming leaders in o11y support in ESM frameworks!
Super happy to see what I talked about at Svelte Summit becoming reality. Thanks for letting me help out out a bit along the way!
Full @sentry.io support is already WIP and will ship soon!

Wrote something about how the Sentry SDKs handle routes with parameters (fun fact: there are 4 different ways to spell parametrization)

GPT-5 presentation be like: "You see a few less em-dashes as well" ...did I miss that people have a problem with em-dashes?

What about correct punctuation? 🥲

As a multi-passionate person, I truly feel this 🧵
Let's embrace all facets of who you are ✨
The last decades of social media have pushed people to be specialized, one persona/identity.

In the book Range, they discuss how innovation happens when people cross fields of study.

This makes sense, people are multifaceted and applying paradigms across disciplines helps us think differently!

My #sveltesummit talk was published today! I talked about using @opentelemetry.io in SvelteKit apps and what the framework can do to make this a better experience.
'Tracing the Slowdown: OpenTelemetry In SvelteKit Made Easy' by Lukas Stracke from Svelte Summit Spring 2025 is now available on our YouTube channel!

Would you like to work on Sentry's JS SDKs in Vienna with the amazing team I'm part of?🧑‍💻

We currently have an open role (bonus points if you are already familiar with observability or OpenTelemetry): sentry.io/careers/396c...

Feel free to drop me a message in case you have questions 😊
Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript), SDK
Bad software is everywhere, and we’re tired of it. Sentry needs a Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript), SDK on our mission to help developers write better software faster, so we can get back to enjoy...

Gave a talk about observability in ESM today @viennajs.bsky.social and I just love those illustrations 🌞
Banger talks @@viennajs.bsky.social in the @dynatrace.com Vienna office

@danielroe.dev persuaded us to build CLIs, to free ourselves from repetitive tasks and achieve effortlessness.

@bitsbysigrid.bsky.social dove deep into how ESM modules make the injection of observability tools especially hard.

While ESM is awesome, we're still missing a user-friendly approach for observability instrumentation. The ecosystem needs a standard way to instrument ESM modules without friction. I summarized the challenges and potential solutions here: github.com/getsentry/es...
