I'm sure there must be other checks to access alcohol. But for my occasional accessing of Facebook (which I believe is using Yoti), I'm hoping the real verification is as easy as this demo🤞

Today I was driving behind a ute with a P-plate and 2 stickers on the back window of a symbol (I now know is) called the Jerusalem Cross. Not surprised at all that, when I googled it, I found it's been appropriated white supremacists. But jeez, this stuff didn't used to be so overt. Right?!

Hello, to the spider who lives in my car's side mirror, and whose webs I keep destroying over and over again. I don't usually get to see you in person.
A car side mirror is partially covered in a spider's web. In the gap between the mirror and the mirror's housing, half of a spider can be seen peering out of it's hiding place.

ATO staff were alerted to Suzanne’s hardship circumstance on several occasions that should have prompted them to cancel the PAYG payments, and reassess the repayment schedule, documents show. Instead, she was referred to a debt collector, which is usually reserved for unresponsive taxpayers – not those making weekly repayments.

One thing I will say before I hand over to them is that it does appear that with some of these cases where the system has not been applying or operationalising policy correctly or as we anticipated we became aware that the system was not operating entirely as we expected but we weren't necessarily aware of the impact. Before I ask the team to comment on that, because you might be reflecting that that seems odd—how would we not understand the impact if the system is not doing what we think it should be doing?—I'll say that when I met with the independent assurance team that is looking at our systems one of the things they reflected on is that the system and its processes are not documented end to end. So, in many cases, there are—and I do not want to pre-empt the full report, but this is the language that was used in the briefing with me—dead ends in the system but it might not be that you can understand the impact of that until an event happens and the team is kind of reverse engineering it. I'm not using the proper terminology here. I'm not a technical person. The reason I mention that is that a big, complex IT system will often not work in the way you anticipate. We might refer to them as 'bugs' as if they were all trivial and insignificant, but some of those bugs don't have an impact on our participants and some of them do. The first one we identified—

For me, after missing the appt & getting a text saying 'get in touch or your payment could be suspended', I was prompted to rush in & quickly sign a new Job Plan. It had things we hadn't discussed & I hadn't agreed to.
One of the more absurd aspects of the TCF is the amount of meaningless busywork the system inflicts. As the department admitted in its submission to Hill’s inquiry, the vast majority of payment suspensions don’t actually result in a financial penalty to recipients. In a 12-month period, tCOhe department explained that “90.1% of all suspensions resulted in no delay to payments, because the jobseeker took action and had payment reinstated before the payment fell due”. Payment suspensions can be imposed by providers with little or no proof, and seemingly little accountability. Jobseekers talk of being suspended for not turning up to meetings they were never told about. The administration required is crippling; a system in which frontline staff working for employment services providers spend the majority of their time ticking boxes, rather than helping clients find work.

I should never buy Vege Deli Crisps. Apart from being overpriced chips, I can't stop eating them! Most of the packet gone in one sitting. Already feeling slightly dehydrated from the 3 or 400 grams of sodium.

This guy is a real piece of work. Offered his services to the dept of Immigration to write a $30k report accusing real researchers of being "advocates primarily and researchers secondarily" in relation to asylum seekers in detention.

One of the researchers, Zachary Steel from the University of NSW, said most of Dr Samuell's claims were "self-evidently" false and there was "a convergence of interests" between Dr Samuell and the Immigration Department. Louise Newman, director of the NSW Institute of Psychiatry, has accused the Government of backing a "campaign of harassment and personal vilification".

We called the government’s aged care support service and asked them what to do. They said, check the room finder on our website: look, there are beds available in all these homes! But I have called all those homes, I told them, and there are no beds. Wow, they said: they should update their website! I agreed that that would be good, and that was the end of our conversation.

I understand websites need to make money & can't just provide info without ads, but I'm not loving this new thing where an ad suddenly covers a huge chunk of screen & continues for, what seems like, half of the article.
