Habs fan. English teacher. Mostly here to shoot the breeze about either.
Some ppl here didn't grow up being forced to listen to Simani's "The Mummer's Song"...and it shows 😎

Oh that's a phenomenal joke! Nicely done! 😎

Yep, definitely something a man who spent some time in Newfoundland would say...😎

In my Grade 11 university prep class, that would be a Level 1+ (high 50s). Zeroes are reserved for AI slop (or unsubmitted work). And this definitely wasn't written by AI :)

Yeah, that's a zero for not agreeing with what she wrote. She (it was a she, right?) responded, reflected and defended her opinion. No matter how ridiculous her opinion is, she fulfilled the expectations given

Giving her a zero for that was unprofessional and frankly deserving of the viral outrage.

Did we ever get to see the instructions or rubric for the assignment?

My first impression is that's a D paper all day long.

It's awful, but it ain't a zero.

Awarding a zero was basically asking for a shitstorm.

I miss a few of the habs guys who never migrated over, but this place is overwhelmingly better.

The toxicity of twitter seeped into every interaction.

Don't miss it in the slightest.

Obama's weekly poker games, and what it means for his governing style, were regularly discussed during his first election campaign...

Oh that's a good one too!

Another one I just thought of:

Never-ending Math Equation - Building Something Out of Nothing (Modest Mouse)

Need a ruling here: what's the first track on Nation of Millions - Bring the Noise or Countdown to Armageddon?

Countdown is track 1, but it's not really a song, more of an intro/stage-setter...

Depends, how many items on the menu have the word "latte"? 😎
November 25, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Well, seeing as how I'm French-Canadian, I in fact do roll my R in croissant 😎
November 25, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Mr. Williams is aware that "latte", not being an English word, isn't beholden to the rules of English pronunciation...right?

Wikipedia says that the population of the Holy Roman Empire in 1500 was 23,000,000.

1% of that is 230,000 executions a year, or 630 a day.

Franz Schmidt, the focus of Harrington's book "The Faithful Executioner" performed 361 executions over 45 years in Hof and Nuremberg.

Depending on how Stl and Van fare tonight and tomorrow, they could end up in 30th place by the time they play again on Wednesday.

I was trying to find the link to the original ad to see what the materials were, but gave up quickly. 😎

100% a marketing ploy. This sort of thing is so tiresome. Like when a movie makes a "brave" casting decision and uses the stupids getting angry online as advertising.

Ça suffit.

$168 for a sweater of any colour is completely bonkers!

(And God, that one is hideous...)

Ha!

Death, taxes, and Anderson scoring twice against the Leafs 😎
November 23, 2025 at 2:50 AM
Agreed. Referencing 4 Nations - an NHL event with NHL referees, as proof a style of play has value in an IIHF event, is just silly.

One chapter can be called "That was me getting through my anger" and then the next chapter can be called "This is me getting through."
