Had the good fortune last night of listening to two great writers (@sethwickersham.bsky.social & @michael-rosenberg.bsky.social) at a great bookstore (Ann Arbor’s Literati) discussing a great book (American Kings).

Wickersham is about as good as it gets in this game. Buy the book (at a bookstore).

ok, both absurd, and hilarious, that Jhoan Duran had to exit the field in the Nats’ batting helmet-shaped bullpen cart instead of an actual medical cart.

One of the more infuriating injustices in the uber-niche world of *archival sportswriting enthusiasts* is the demise and disregard of "SI Vault" amid Sports Illustrated's recent ping-ponging between vulture ownership groups. A goddamn shame.

Hello from Portrush, Northern Ireland, where, even on a week that’s so big, everything can feel very small.

Oakmont received an inch of rain overnight. Fairways and greens will drain fine, but everything everywhere is sopping. How bad? The USGA is offering full refunds to ticket-holders today who don’t want to slosh around.

The forecast: Wet

Will forever remember the time a US Open passersby saw this hat and leaned in to say, “Hey. You’re in Duquesne Dukes Country, brother.”
