This is the post they're responding to btw. Note how they're choosing to say Americans are stupid and skipping right past the part where I say people in other countries low key have an obsession with what's happening in the US to the point of neglecting their own politics?

My point is not: The US is less racist.

It is also not: France is more racist.

My big takeaway is racism in the US is just... transparent. It's easy to see, because of the legacy of slavery and Black people in this country, the racism is loud.

I guarantee you if we took all the funding away from the legendary assholes and gave it to talented nice people, we would have an equal if not greater amount of good movies and fewer traumatized and miserable assistants, crew, and actors.

I’d recommend keeping an observational eye out for who is using normal instead of common, and what they intend it to suggest about the behavior being described. If what’s being described is about frequency and they use normal, start asking questions.

*deleted a post mid-thread because I worded it backwards, here’s the gist:

Consider the sentence “it is more common to be straight than gay”
(Factually correct, non-judgmental)

Vs

“It is more normal to be straight than gay”
(Implies abnormality of being gay, stigmatizing)

Why has entertainment content gotten so bad? Why are so many formerly great food and comedy and pop culture sites now ad parades with poorly written, unedited clickbait? This is why. Because the media conglomerates cut and cut and cut the workers pay and experience until they gave up.
