This post has breached containment in the weirdest way. I am sorry to all of the people who are relaying their tragedies in the replies, but I would like everyone to know I was referencing the famous 90s rock song Detachable Penis (King Missile, 1992).
Hey quick question have you ever been close to tragedy or been close to folks who have? Oh wow that’s crazy in that case have you ever felt a pain so powerful/so heavy you collapse?

if you think this violates the law (and it very clearly does imo), you don't seek an injunction, you seek an indictment, given that the law makes it a class 1 felony. cowardice from the AG, cowardice from the courts, nobody wants the responsibility of actually enforcing the law. cowards all around

Our economy is far larger than it was decades ago.

Where have most of the gains gone? To the top.

Any path forward must include a fight to restructure the economy toward more widely shared prosperity.

This isn’t a blue state vs. red state phenomenon. It’s a class phenomenon.

This is a very big problem!

You can do a trade war & cut off food imports. OR you can have a domestic farm sector that's given up on feeding its own country.

You can't do both!

But we are! We're doing both!

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

America taking over Greenland is a foolish idea. America destroying its relationship with Canada is utter idiocy. America applying tariffs and engaging in trade wars with neighbors is economic nonsense. A lunatic is holding America hostage and his enablers are making fools of themselves.

What the actual fuck are these Democrats doing? This is full on collaboration that will enable Trump to shut down any website or online service he dislikes.
NEW: As early as next week, Senators plan to introduce the first bipartisan bill to repeal Section 230, the landmark internet law

I spoke with congressional aides to get the details of the ambitious effort, which internet experts described as akin to extortion

This is more important than you realize. Bluesky doesn’t downgrade links. Which means news sites will get more traffic from here than other sites.

Which gives them economic reasons to post here first.
Bluesky says it is now sending referral traffic through its "go" subdomain to make it easier for publishers to track the traffic coming from the social network (Sarah Perez/TechCrunch)

As Elon Musk guts entire government agencies and fires thousands of federal workers that deliver vital services to the country, remember that his corporations have received at least $38 billion in government contracts over the past 20 years.

Yet will any of this be touched by DOGE? Of course not.

Meanwhile, the wages of the bottom 90% have seen just 44% growth.
